Audism in Healthcare

In 2021 Elise from Deaf Hub Bendigo travelled around regional and rural Victoria with Auslan Consultancy to interview local Deaf people and create a series of themed Documentaries.
This docuseries has been in the making since then and at our Deafening Minds evening earlier this month the short version of our ‘Audism in Healthcare’ was screened.

We’d like to share this video with you now publicly for the first time. It highlights the gaps there are in the health system when trying to access information and the severe implications it can AND does have on individuals.

The short version of this documentary had a huge impact on our audience at the Deafening Minds evening and already we have had several organisation’s step forward and want to make change and not only that but we have locked in fortnightly meetings to ensure that change actually does happen!
